Godzilla Stance | Nutek Series 708 Concave

When people talk about Japanese Supercars, there are certain cars that are always mentioned in the discussion. The Nissan Skyline GT-R, Toyota Supra RZ, Honda/Acura NSX-R, Lexus LF-A... these are but a few of the beastly offerings from overseas. This issue's focus is Nissan's R35 GT-R, and auto tuner SP-Engineering's incredible offerings for this machine.

The 2010 Nissan GT-R comes with 520 hp right off the dealer lot, and for most people, the power and looks of the factory car are enough. For others... further customization is a must. We got a chance to work with SP Engineering, who is one of the leading GT-R tuners here in the country. Pulling into their facility, we couldn't help but notice a gridlock of GT-R's, Ferrari's, Lamborghini's and even a few McLaren MP-12C's, all awaiting the SP Engineering touch for increased performance. We knew we were in High Horsepower Heaven.

First up on the list of mods for the GT-R are upgraded wheels and tires. With a serious increase in horsepower in store, there was a need to give the car a bigger footprint to help transfer all this extra power to the road. Wanting to replace the factory 20x9.5 (255/40R20) FA and 20x10.5 (285/35R20) RA setup, SP Engineering turned to Nutek Forged Wheels for a custom built forged solution. After taking careful measurements of the GT-R and its massive brake calipers, Nutek was able to maximize the aggressiveness of the wheel design without compromising performance. This upgraded GT-R now rolls on Nutek 708 Concave Series 20x10 (285/35R20) FA and 20x12 (315/30R20) RA, adding a full 30mm of width to the tires on all four corners.

This GT-R also received SP Engineering's Stage 2 SPE750 package. What's this you ask? 800 horsepower and quarter mile track times under 10 seconds. Here's a short run down of what SP Engineering did for this GT-R:

Currently, coloured wheels are all the rage, and with our custom finish program, Bavaria Wheels can offer unique finishes from mild to WILD. Featured in this issue is a set of Bavaria BC5's, done in a Matte Baby Blue powder coat finish for Switzerland's Streetworkz Customz and their BMW 1M Coupe shop car. Recap!! | Bimmerfest 2013

Bimmerfest 2013 was a great success. With 1,960 cars, and over 4,700 attendees coupled with some seriously gorgeous So Cal weather, it was an event not to be missed. Taking the spotlight in our booth was our new Bavaria Wheels low pressure cast line. With it's clean lines, concave profile, and fitments to clear most performance brake calipers, it's the perfect way to showcase your vehicle and let you stand out from the crowd. There was something for every Bimmer fan at the show, from restored classics, to heavily modified modern day machines. It was the ultimate showcase for the Ultimate Driving Machine. We can't wait to see you next year at Bimmerfest 2014!

The New Scion FR-S | Bavaria BC5 Concave

We attend a lot of car meets and events and noticed lately that the current Belle of the Ball is the Scion FR-S / Subaru BRZ. We've had the great pleasure to sit down and chat with our buddy Thomas with his 2013 Scion FR-S named Chimera (A Greek Mythical Creature). Thomas first purchased the car back in July 2012, and his passion for tuning has created a project that is constantly evolving.

We wanted to know why he picked the FR-S chassis as the base for his tuning project. His reply was "I picked the FR-S due to the fact that it was one of the best platforms to come together from 2 different car builders. Plus it's such a great car to drive."

This FR-S has a projected goal to be successful in 3 areas: Appearance, Performance, and Sound. The car isn't close to completion yet, but Thomas has already created a buzz for himself at events and features! Keeping it simple, yet clean, is what some guys want to achieve when modifying cars.

The FR-S is equipped with 20x10 Bavaria BC-5 Concave Wheels wrapped in Toyo Proxes 1 tires. Lowering the car with Eibach springs not only gave it a better stance, but also increased handling performance without sacrificing comfort. Thomas added some flare by getting parts of the car wrapped by Wrapito, along with a Carbon Fiber Hood and Carbon Deck Lid from Seibon. The Boxer rumble is now even more noticeable with a Borla Exhaust System. Thomas' project goal of tuning Appearance, Performance, and Sound is well on its way.

More power and more enhancements to audio is what's in store for this FR-S along with, well... we'd hate to spoil the surprise After looking over some renderings of what is in store for Project Chimera, we know the next time we feature this car,it will be very aggressive and very different from the rest of the pack.
